Library Leads Readers on Summer “Adventures”

By Martin County Library System May 22, 2024

Beginning May 24th through August 11th, 2024, readers of all ages will be equipped to prevent the dreaded “summer slide” as Martin County Library System [MCLS] presents its annual Summer Reading Program; Adventures Begin at Your Library.

  • Kids (babies through grade 5) will use a paper reading log or the (free) Beanstack app or mcls.beanstack.org to register, track progress, and view daily virtual events presented by Page Turner Adventures. They’ll read books, win free book prizes, and qualify for grand prizes upon program completion, including an invitation to the Finale Party at the Library, plus a pass to Sailfish Splash Waterpark (while supplies last).

  • Teens (grades 6 through 12) will submit online book reviews at mcls.beanstack.org or the Beanstack app. Earn one hour of volunteer credit for each book review and qualify for a chance at a $50 Barnes & Noble gift card raffle prize.

  • Adults will use mcls.beanstack.org, the Beanstack app, or pick up an adventure map at any location, for reading and activities, and qualify for a chance at a special prize.

All library users are encouraged to use Novelist, a free online resource designed to assist readers of all ages in discovering titles, authors, genres. Anyone can sign up to receive free recommendations based on personal reading. They can visit www.martin.fl.us/readers-advisory to get started.

Special activities and events are planned to accompany the program. Visit the online events calendar for information. For complete details, go to: www.martin.fl.us/summer-reading-program-2024.
