MCSD Environmental Studies Center Unveils Newly Renovated Wet Lab Thanks to $100k Donation

The Martin County School District Environmental Studies Center is pleased to announce the grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony of its newly renovated Wet Lab. Made possible by a generous $100,000 donation from Impact100 Martin, the renovation represents a significant enhancement to the Center's educational resources and facilities.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place on February 10, 2024 at 9:00 AM at the Environmental Studies Center located at 2900 NE Indian River Drive, Jensen Beach, 34957.

Local leaders, community members, educators, and students are invited to attend and witness the unveiling of this transformative project.

Highlights of the renovation include but are not limited to:

  • New Air Conditioning and Plumbing
  • New Water Tanks
  • Updated Composite Wood
  • Revitalization of the Terrazzo Floor
  • New Signage
  • New Interactive Exhibits
  • New Octopus Tank

About The Environmental Studies Center (ESC)

The Environmental Studies Center serves a variety of students each year. Students in kindergarten through seventh grade classes visit the Center each year to participate in hands-on field investigations. The ESC also serves high school Marine and Environmental Science classes. Students explore the Indian River Lagoon, Hutchinson Island beaches, mangrove communities, freshwater ponds and wetlands. The Center is home to a wide variety of fish and reptiles, including a loggerhead sea turtle and alligators.
