Board Lifts Restrictions on Beach Access, Reopens Skate Parks

May 22, 2020

At the Martin County Board of County Commissioners meeting on Tuesday, 5/19/20, the Board lifted restrictions at Martin County beaches (including Hobe Sound Beach) as of Wednesday, May 20th. Beachgoers are encouraged to follow social distancing and CDC guidelines. Patrons are required to park in marked areas and parking will be strictly enforced. As a reminder, Bathtub Beach remains closed due to erosion issues.

The Board also voted to reopen Martin County skate parks, which are located in Jock Leighton Park, Mary Brogan Park and Langford Park. To ensure social distancing, the number of skaters allowed on the ramps will be limited to 10 at a time, and skate time will be limited to 90 minutes if there is a wait. Spectators will be limited to 2 per skater.

At the meeting, the Board also adjusted their schedule of special COVID-19 meetings. The meeting scheduled for this Friday, May 22, has been cancelled. Subsequent special meetings will take place on Fridays during weeks when there is no regularly scheduled board meeting until further notice.
