MC School District Announces Graduation Plans for Class of 2020

April 30, 2020

Superintendent Laurie J. Gaylord has announced the Martin County School District's plans to celebrate the Class of 2020 with traditional graduation ceremonies. Schools will continue to collaborate with public health and safety experts to plan the ceremonies, which have tentatively been scheduled for late July.

Seniors were invited to complete a digital survey to provide feedback about their preferences last week. The majority of students responded that they preferred a traditional, in-person ceremony to commemorate their achievements and the conclusion of their K-12 academic careers.

"The COVID-19 pandemic has caused many disruptions to our way of life, and we wholeheartedly recognize the extraordinary impact of these changes on our graduating seniors," Superintendent Gaylord shared. "While there are still many public health guidelines and variables to be taken into consideration, we are committed to providing our seniors with ceremonies they have asked for, earned and deserve as graduates of the Martin County School District."

Seniors are asked to continue to monitor their Google Classrooms for additional updates from their schools. More information about the ceremonies will be shared with families as it becomes available.
