Treasure Coast Pirate Festival Is On The Horizon, February 14th - 16th

February 13, 2020

Looking for a weekend of fun and excitement? Look no further than the Treasure Coast Pirate Fest, coming February 14th, 15th & 16th, 2020. Located at Veterans Memorial Park in historic Fort Pierce, 3-day event draws a huge crowd each year and has been referred to by many as one of the most historically accurate pirate festivals in and around Florida. Join us this year as we celebrate the 11th year of this amazing event.

Loaded with colorful rogues, wenches, and scallywags, the family friendly Treasure Coast Pirate Fest offers up some of the nation’s finest reenactors who help provide visitors with a true to life pirate encounter. This highly anticipated event is always a favorite among festival goers.

Some festival high points include exploring the Living History Pirate Encampment (a firsthand look at how pirates lived ashore back in the day), and the very popular Pirate Weapon Demonstrations with real swords, muskets and cannons!

Visitors to the festival can shop the various nautical themed and arts and craft vendors and enjoy delicious foods and tasty cocktails as they listen to pirate songs and shanties while taking in all of the sights and sounds of this 3-day fun-filled event. You’ll be amazed and amused by Magic and Tales by Lafitte, and be on the lookout for beautiful mermaids.

There is also plenty for the younger pirates like the kids’ costume contest, guided treasure hunts, the Quest Game which is an interactive hunt for wanted pirates, and the very popular Little Buccaneer Kid’s Zone, where young pirates can play with the purchase of a wristband. Also, for a small boarding fee, young pirates can have the time of their lives seeking adventure on the Avenger which is a nearly 40 foot long replica pirate ship that has 5 amazing interactive decks to explore.

The scheduled lineup of live music is packed with performers such as the fun-loving Irish American band, Bawdy Boys performing Saturday and Sunday, The Lazy Jacks, who perform maritime music and songs of the sea. A-Tribe, a unique band that brings an eclectic mix of world fusion music with organic instruments throughout the weekend. The duo BAM, The Bard and Minstrel, will provide comedy, music, and lighthearted debauchery both Saturday and Sunday.

You can also meet world renowned and famous people like; Treasure Hunter Captain Fizz" Carl Fismer, Authors Patrick S. Mesmer, and Robert Jacob. This year we honor the memory of a wonderful and very talented man, our friend and nationally acclaimed maritime artist Steve Witucki, who sadly passed away in October of 2019. Steve’s art has been a part of the pirate fest for many years. And thanks to his family, his artwork will again be on display and available for purchase in the Riverwalk Center this year.

Pirate Fest admission is free, though a $2.00 “Buck -N- Ear” voluntary contribution is greatly appreciated. That be two dollars for ye landlubbers! Non-perishable food donations will be accepted at the gates for the Treasure Coast Food Bank. A portion of the event proceeds will benefit the Scarlett Fortuna, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization who work towards promoting education and reading among school age children.

The Scarlet Fortuna will be featuring their Mobile Book Tent. Enter their pirate themed tent where the only treasure is books, books and more books to share! Bring your children by to receive a book free of charge (while supplies last), or donate a new or gently used children's book, or even swap them! One of the greatest treasures in the world is knowing how to read. Help them to promote literature one ‘R’ at a time!

You may also visit the Pirate School, better known as the Pirate University, where both young and old can learn from the Governess, how to become a proper pirate.
