Tykes & Teens To Host All Night Graduation
Events To Keep Graduates Safe and Off The Road

Graduating seniors in Martin County will have a fun, safe and free overnight party following their graduation, courtesy of Tykes & Teens and the community sponsors who have stepped up to support this initiative. The events occur on:

  • Tuesday, May 28th for South Fork High School,
  • Wednesday, May 29th for Jensen Beach High School and
  • Thursday, May 30th for Martin County High School.

All events begin immediately following the graduation ceremony at  the YMCA of the Treasure Coast, 1700 SE Monterey Road in Stuart and last until 3:30 AM.

Project Graduation is a locally run, nationally developed drug and alcohol-free program designed for graduating seniors that encourages graduates to stay off the streets on graduation night. Project Graduation has raised the consciousness of the entire community as it pertains to substance abuse and driving. Over the past 23 years more than 15,000 seniors from the public high schools in Martin County have participated in Project Graduation. Police reports of incidents due to graduates on those nights have been insignificant, and there have been NO DUI arrests or deaths since its inception.

Project Graduation was begun in Martin County by teacher Stella Boland and is managed by a group of dedicated volunteers. Each year nearly 75% of the graduating class from each school attend their respective events.

“Project Graduation is the perfect culmination of the prevention work that we do for children and adolescents in Martin County throughout their schooling”, said Tykes & Teens CEO Jeff Shearer. “We believe that it is a meaningful, fun, and potentially life-saving event, and we are excited to make sure that it remains a priority in Martin County.”

The Project Graduation Committee works tirelessly to raise funds to make sure that these are events with quality food, entertainment and prizes. Sponsors for 2019 Project Graduation in Martin County include Hobe Sound Community Chest,

YMCA of the Treasure Coast, Martin Firefighters Association, Commissioner Ed Ciampi, US Sugar, Eventmakers, CHARACTER COUNTS!-A Program of the United Way of Martin County, Keiser University, Stuart Police Officers Association,
