Ribbon Cutting Ceremony - Martin County Historical Mural
Painted by Students of Martin County High School

The students, faculty and friends of Martin County High School will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony on Saturday, March 23, 2019 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at 622 S Colorado Avenue in downtown Stuart.

Kim Jones, owner of the Prescription Shop of Stuart approached Martin County High School about painting a mural on a large wall along her business. After much brainstorming by art teachers Bryan Johnson and Amanda Jones, it was decided that a mural depicting the history of Martin County would be something different, educational, and inspiring.

Starting on October 20, 2018, students began the mural by depicting icons in the history of Martin County. The mural is 70 feet long and 14 feet high. It took over 10 weeks to complete and was finished December 29, 2018.

The Prescription Shop donated much of the supplies and scaffolding. Regal Paint Center of Stuart donated the paint and clear coat protectant. There has been a very positive public response to this mural. The art department believes this will be a part of Martin County history itself and will be an inspiration for other artists to paint more murals in Martin County and downtown Stuart.
