Trucks! They bring out the kid in all of us, and when you can climb on them and check out what you see from behind the steering wheel ... well, it just doesn’t get much better than that! That’s why you and your kid-at-heart family members won’t want to miss the perfect fundraiser: Touch-a-Truck to benefit the Early Learning Coalition of Indian River, Martin and Okeechobee counties.
Set for April 2, 2016 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Martin County Fairgrounds, proceeds will benefit the non-profit’s Building Blocks for Educational Success. This interactive experience allows youngsters to climb on, learn about and discover their favorite big trucks - and what an exciting collection it will be.
Event sponsors include FP&L, Martin Health Systems, Mancil’s and Geico Treasure Coast local office. In-kind sponsor are Goodwill, Faith Farm, Island Party Rental and Macaroni Kid Stuart.
Just a few of the trucks scheduled to be onsite are an engine truck from the City of Stuart Fire Department; Martin County Sheriff Office Black Humvee and patrol car; a limo from Leighton Transportation; Stuart Police Department patrol cars and crime scene vehicle; a favorite from last year: “Coastie” from the U.S. Coast Guard; a tow truck from Reliable Towing; garbage truck from Waste Management; a tug; construction vehicles; a concrete Boom pump from Big Johnson Concrete; a dump truck and front end loader from Mancil's; brush truck and transport dozer from U.Ss Forest Service; bucket truck from FPL; a Martin County school bus; Truly Nolen Mouse Car and limo and a 50-ton crane from Frenchy’s Crane.
Vehicle drivers and operators will be on hand to educate the public about their vehicles and answer any questions.
Admission is $5 per person and you’ll be able to buy lunch or snacks from one of the many food trucks that will be at the Fairgrounds.
Booth space is available at no charge for non-profits who would like to participate, offer a craft that is suitable for children and present information about their organization. Space to promote a for-profit business or offer items for sale is available for a $25 per booth donation to Early Learning Coalition.
