Martin County Libraries' Food For Fines Week - September 8th-13th

Help Martin County Residents Overcome Hunger and Hardship

September 5, 2014
The Martin County Library System (MCLS) is offering a chance to wipe out your fines in exchange for food for House of Hope.

During Food For Fines week, September 8th - 13th, patrons can bring their overdue items along with non-perishable food items to the circulation desk at any Martin County library. All fines for items that have been returned late will be forgiven. Bills for lost, damaged or never-returned items are not included in this offer. Library locations are as follows:
  • Blake Library - 2351 SE Monterey Road, Stuart
  • Elisabeth Lahti Library - 15200 SW Adams Avenue, Indiantown
  • Hobe Sound Public Library - 10595 SE Federal Highway, Hobe Sound
  • Hoke Library - 1150 NW Jack Williams Way, Jensen Beach
  • Peter & Julie Cummings Library - 2551 SW Matheson Avenue, Palm City
  • Robert Morgade Library - 5851 SE Community Drive, Stuart
This is the fourth year MCLS has joined with House of Hope in the Food For Fines effort. In the past three years, the drive has collected nearly 13,000 pounds of food, as Martin County libraries and patrons helped their neighbors in need. House of Hope is a nonprofit agency that provides food, clothing, furniture, financial assistance and case management services to Martin County residents through four locations - Stuart, Hobe Sound, Indiantown and Jensen Beach.
