August 15, 2014
The Treasure Coast Autism Project (TCAP) is proud to be preparing for our 3rd Annual Stand Up for Autism Paddle Boarding Event hosted by TC Paddle Boarding and The US Sailing Center of Martin County. The Event is set to take place on Saturday, August 30, 2014 from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the US Sailing Center located at 1955 NE Indian River Drive in Jensen Beach.

This is a family fun event for all ages and skill levels. The event will feature free admission, free paddleboard clinics, raffle prizes, food, drinks, kids craft tent, music, games, paddleboard race, water play area, auction, and much more!

Stand Up For Autism allows the school to sustain classroom needs and provide scholarships to families in our community. TCAP is a 501c3 not for profit organization dedicated to helping children with autism and their families on the Treasure Coast. The demand for our program continues to grow each year.

Diane Donahue, TCAP teacher and board member said, “Fundraising is essential for the continued success of the program at TCAP. Studies have consistently shown that children living on the Autism Spectrum learn best in an environment that has a low teacher-student ratio, an individualized learning pace, a curriculum generalized to the community, and environmental modifications (such as filtered lighting and adaptive technology). Our program is based upon the Principles of Applied Behavior Analysis, and has a weekly community outing and technology embedded throughout the day. Fundraising efforts, particularly Stand Up For Autism, allow our students to have access to these components in a school of their family’s choice, without placing an undue financial burden on the families."

TCAP is a school located in Stuart, Florida for children with autism, offering a kindergarten through middle school program. The students come from all regions of the Treasure Coast and we have a wonderfully diverse student population. Our missions is to improve the lives of children living with autism on the Treasure Coast, by providing educational opportunities
which are suitable to each child’s unique academic, therapeutic, and social needs.

"First and foremost, TCAP is an excellent place where each child is the beneficiary of what I see as a ‘tailored educational program’ that integrates speech, behavioral and occupational therapies designed to meet each child’s learning and developmental needs. I feel the comprehensive approach TCAP uses is vital to help my son, Hayden, acquire the skills necessary to be able to lead a productive, independent life. I’m blessed to see such great results!"  - Dr. Richard Ruperto ,TCAP parent.
