Countdown to Fire Fest 2021, Jonathan Dickinson State Park, 10/16

Firefest is Saturday, October 16, 2021 from 1:00 PM – 9:00 PM at Jonathan Dickinson State Park's Kimbell Education Center.

Firefest, funded by The Friends of Jonathan Dickinson State Park and local community sponsors, is a fun-filled, family and community event that celebrates Florida's relationship with fire. Participants will learn about the importance of prescribed fire, safety awareness, and how important fire truly is to our local wildlife and community.

Take in the fall with interactive hayrides, prescribed fire demonstrations and swamp buggy tours through the park. In addition, you and your family will enjoy a day of fun games and educational activities, including:

  • 65' Inflatable Obstacle Course for Kids and Adults
  • Megawire Challenge Game
  • Toddler Bounce House and Slide
  • Lumberjack Axe Throwing
  • Hi-Striker Mallet Game
  • Pumpkin Patch and painting
  • Live Music
  • Photo Booth
  • Food and Drinks for purchase
  • Free Popcorn and Coffee
  • Campfire with Marshmallows
  • Ghost Tour
  • Graveyard Garden

Admission to Firefest is just the $6 park entry fee. Optional costs include: swamp buggy tours, hayrides, bounce houses, and activities. Tickets for these optional activities will be available online beginning September 19th.


Firefest 2021 Schedule of Events and Planned Activities

Prescribed Burn Demonstrations (Smoke present during fire demos)

  • Prescribed Day Burn Demo: 3:00 PM
  • Fire Buckets: 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM; 4:30 PM - 6:30 PM
  • Helicopter Fire Suppression Demo: 3:30 PM
  • Prescribed Night Burn Demo: 7:30 PM

Times may vary.

Educational Activities

  • Local nature and education vendors from the Tri-County area
  • Spray the fire hose off a fire truck!
  • Kimbell Center open throughout event
  • Photo Scavenger Hunt
  • Presentations from Park Staff, Wildlife Rehabilitation Centers, and more
