Treasure Coast Food Bank’s Friends and Family Volunteer Days Resume

April 30, 2021

Treasure Coast Food Bank is restarting its Friends & Family Volunteer Day on May 1, 2021, providing children and their families an opportunity to work side-by-side to make a difference in the community.

“We’re excited to welcome back our young volunteers and their families to Treasure Coast Food Bank,” said Judith Cruz, President and CEO of Treasure Coast Food Bank. “This is an opportunity for children as young as eight years old to learn real-life lessons about compassion and the power of making a difference.”

Friends & Family Volunteer Day will be held from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM the first Saturday of each month at Treasure Coast Food Bank’s sorting facility, 813 S. Kings Highway in Fort Pierce. Minimum age is eight. Anyone under 16 must have adult supervision. (Schedule may vary depending upon holidays.)

At Friends & Family Day, kids and adults work together to pack family food boxes or senior boxes and help fill and package “Order-Ahead” food orders.

“We’ve missed having our young volunteers here at Treasure Coast Food Bank,” Cruz said. “With so many people still needing food assistance because of COVID-19’s effects on their lives, this is an ideal time to give time.”

Because of safety concerns, all volunteers must wear closed-toe shoes and clothing appropriate to work in a warehouse. Space is limited to ensure safe social distancing. Masks must be worn while inside Treasure Coast Food Bank’s facility. Advanced registration is required.
