St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 5150 S.E. Railway Ave., Cove Road at Dixie Highway, Port Salerno, will host its 15th annual “Backpack Giveway,” on Saturday, August 3, 2019 at 8:00 AM to noon with the distribution of more than 700 backpacks filled with school supplies to youngsters in kindergarten through grade eight.
School supplies include paper, crayons, markers, pens, pencils, erasers, pencil cases and more. Also available will be dental supplies, an age-appropriate book and some snacks. Free haircuts from Golden Scissors, therapy dogs and information on safety from the police and fire departments will be part of the day's event.
Contents are determined from a list of needed supplies that the school sends out for each grade. Parents/guardians must bring children.
Anyone wishing to make a donation should make checks payable to: “St. Luke’s Episcopal Church” (P.O. Box 117, Port Salerno, FL 34992) and note in the memo area: “Back to School Event.”
