Do you have both the talent to sing a duet on stage, and the motivation to raise money to support the arts? If so, Artists for a Cause, Inc. encourages you to submit your application to participate in its fifth annual Singing with the Stars fundraising event! Money raised will help the non-profit organization fulfill its mission of supporting artists who serve community needs. Eight exceptional individuals will be selected and paired with professional singers. Each duo will train and compete in front of a live audience and panel of judges at the Lyric Theatre on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 7:00 PM. The overall competition winner is determined by a combination of performing talent and fundraising results.

While Singing with the Stars has raised more than $110,000 for Artists for a Cause, it is more than a fundraising event. It also helps to bring awareness to the programs of Artist for a Cause, all of which have a dual impact in their ability to support culture, and meet critical community needs. The four core programs include: Therapeutic Arts, which sends the healing power of arts to at-risk youth and the elderly; Dance for Food, a series of dance performances where the admission price is a bag of non-perishable food; A4AC School Clubs, which activate community-responsible arts students who use their talent to address critical community needs; and Support for Charities, which manages the collaboration between artists and the causes they support, helping both parties to get the most out of their partnership.

“I founded Artists for a Cause to help other artists to use their talent to make a difference,” said Terry Barber Executive Director of Artists for a Cause. “When we begin by supporting artists, we are already improving communities. The fact that we always use that talent to address another need is the unique dual impact our organization is proud of. I am always delighted by the new connections this event makes for A4AC. If you have hidden talent, this is your chance to take the stage!”

Past winners include: David Dew; Chris Jung; Shaun Kelly; Leslie Levy; Susie McAllister; Donna Roselli; Gil Smart; Michael Terrio and Linda Weiksnar.

Community singers will be chosen through an open application and audition process. To download an application, go to www.a4ac.org and return it to megan@fireflyforyou.com by November 10, 2017 along with a short video audition. For more information call 772-419-8778.
