The Florida Department of Education released standardized test results from the Grade 3 English Language Arts (ELA) Spring testing administration. Results show that the Martin County School District is above the state average in Grade 3 ELA with 60 percent of students showing proficiency in reading, an increase of seven percentage points from last year. The Grade 3 Reading assessment is essential for students to show satisfactory reading proficiency to progress to the fourth grade.Β

Overall, the Martin County School District increased seven percentage points over last yearβs scores, almost twice the average increase for the state. Nearly all the elementary schools demonstrated growth from last year with four schools displaying a double digit increase (including two Title 1 schools): Jensen Beach Elementary showed 21 percentage points growth; Crystal Lake showed 14 percentage points growth; Warfield Elementary showed 12 percentage points growth; and JD Parker showed 11 percentage points growth. In addition, 75 percent of Martin County elementary schools exceeded the state average in proficiency. The top scoring schools are Citrus Grove Elementary with 82 percent proficiency; Bessey Creek Elementary with 81 percent proficiency; and Jensen Beach Elementary with 75 percent proficiency.
