Local Boys Qualify for State Soccer Challenge

October 24, 2014
The Knights of Columbus Regional Soccer Challenge was held in Port St. Lucie on October 12th, where two Martin County youth advanced to the state finals to be held on October 25th in Melbourne. Tyler Thimons, age 13 and Ethan Bailey, age 10, both from Palm City, placed first in their age groups in order to advance. Meanwhile 9 year old Adrian Palacios of Stuart placed second in the region. All three players are members of Martin United Soccer Club based in Palm City.

The Knights of Columbus Soccer Challenge is open to all boys and girls in our community from ages 9 to 14. Eligibility is determined by the age of the contestant. The competition is designed for players to demonstrate the most basic of soccer skills — the penalty kick. Each contestant gets 15 shots, and earns points paced on placement. The boys qualified for the Regional by winning the local competition in Martin County for their age groups.
