Save the Date-Tykes & Teens to Host Free Seminar for Parents of Tweens

July 25, 2014
The years between childhood and adolescence are especially difficult to navigate. An understanding of the specific mind and body changes that a child experiences during this developmental stage is vital to successfully parenting a “tween”. The research regarding middle school aged children and exposure to drugs, alcohol and other dangerous behaviors is frightening, and the best way to help build your child’s protective assets is to educate yourself about how to best communicate with him or her.

Luckily, the experts at Tykes & Teens can help. On October 4th, the non-profit will host a free event designed to help parents of middle school aged children navigate the confusing and challenging “tween” years. The 5th Annual Mapping the Middle-A Guide to All Things Tween is supported by the Children’s Services Council of Martin County, C.O.R.E., The Martin County School District, the United Way of Martin County, and Kaunis Hetki Photography.

This year’s topics to be presented by a panel of experts will include The Teen Brain, Healthy Sexual Development, Nutrition and Mental Health, and Marijuana: Where are We Now? A therapist from Tykes and Teens will host an interactive group for tweens to participate in while their parents are attending the lectures.

The event takes place Saturday, October 4th, 2014 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Wolf High Technology Center on the IRSC Chastain Campus in Stuart. Limited free vendor space is available, and corporate sponsorship opportunities are only $100 and include marketing benefits. For more information or to pre-register for the event please call Dr. Agnieszka Marshall at 772-220-3439.
