There’s something universal about the appeal of “Fiddler on The Roof,” a musical set in Tsarist Russia, based on Yiddish folk tales by Sholem Aleichem, as adapted by Joseph Stein, with music and lyrics by Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick. FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, which opened on Broadway in 1964, became one of Broadway’s most beloved musicals. Superlative material and a score full from “Sunrise, Sunset” to “If I Were A Rich Man” all add up to a musical theatre powerhouse. FIDDLER ON THE ROOF is one of the finest examples of Broadway’s Golden Age. It remains as fresh, contemporary and heart-warming as it was back in the day.
StarStruck’s cast is quite special as it has 6 parent and child teams and 2 husband and wife teams. This is quite unusual in a cast of 34! The musical is about a community, a small shtetl, in a Russian town in 1905 and what happens to one family in particular. The cast has bonded like never before not only because there are so many family members in one show, but also because of the themes explored in the musical. The concept of anti Semitism and breaking of traditions are widely explored along with the beautiful story and incredible music. Peter Jones will be playing live on stage along with Laura Mozena on violin. Jennifer Jones and New York’s Doug Jabara star as Tevye and Golde.
