St. Luke's School of the Arts has released its Fall 2016 Curriculum. Primarily designed for community youth interested in the performing arts, classes will begin October 1, 2016.

Appropriate for children from 6 to 18, the courses are taught by local performers and teachers with noteworthy credentials. This year's course selection will include Beginning Acting with Robin Brooke, and Voice Development with Amanda Sofia. Anna Preston will teach beginning ballet and contemporary dance. Sewing classes will be taught by Gail Hodge and other special seminars and activities for both adults and children are being developed.

Jonathan Cummings will give private guitar lessons and Gena Etheridge will offer piano, clarinet and composition lessons for both private and shared sessions.

The School of the Arts also offers Yoga with Nancy Miller and this year will introduce Strength Building and Balance for adults taught by Jasmine Bishop.

Classes are held on the campus of St. Luke's Episcopal Church at Cove Road and A1A in Port Salerno.

There is an annual registration fee of $15, with most classes costing $10 per student per class. Registration is taking place now online at www.stlukesfl.org or by calling the Church office at 772-286-5455.

St. Luke's offers financial assistance in the form of scholarships to students who would otherwise not be able to attend.

The School of the Arts at St. Luke's was established in 2013. A highlight of the School's activities is a three week theatrical camp during the summer. Treasure Island and Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs have been featured presentations. It is anticipated that St. Luke's will host a performance by the students attending the Fall classes at the close of the semester this coming December.
