August 27, 2015
The Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s Jonathan Dickinson State Park is celebrating literacy with special outdoor reading programs in September! There will be fun reading centered activities throughout the month to help get everyone excited about reading! Below are the planned activities along with the dates and times they are scheduled to take place.

Wild About Reading - Relax in the shade with lemonade and cookies and read with a Ranger, then go on a nature walk adventure! Program may also include a creative take home craft. The program will take place on September 5th and 12th from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM and registration is requested.

Discover Reading Scavenger Hunt - Explore the river area on this self-guided walking tour and learn about the park’s unique wildlife and natural and cultural history. Participants can enter a raffle for a Florida State Park FREE Entry Pass! The program will take place on September 5th and 12th from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Tuesday, September 8th is International Literacy Day! The park will celebrate with two opportunities to participate in the Wild About Reading program: one at 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM and the other at 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM. In addition, all visitors who come by to participate in a program and present a library card or literacy book, or donate a gently used, family friendly book at the entrance gate will be granted FREE ENTRY all day!
