Sailfish Splash Waterpark Wraps up Parks & Recreation Month

Offers "Back to the Future" prices and "Family Splashin' Saturday

By Janet Landwehr July 24, 2015
To commemorate the 30th anniversary of Parks and Recreation Month, as well as the 25th anniversary of the Martin County Department of Parks & Recreation, Sailfish Splash Waterpark will have flash-sales of limited numbers of weekday tickets at the 1980s price of $6.50. In addition, to wrap up the commemoration, the Waterpark will launch "Family Splashin' Saturdays" on August 1, 2015, with special, early evening water park hours, followed by a showing of the movie, "Finding Nemo."

In 1985, the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) designated July as the month to highlight the importance of parks and recreation to communities. In addition to providing places for activities, explore nature, and connect with fellow community members, parks and recreation contribute to good health, higher property values, and environmental sustainability.

In the spirit of this 30th anniversary celebration, and in recognition of the 25th anniversary of its own formation, the Martin County Department of Parks & Recreation: was honored with a proclamation of Parks & Recreation month from the Board of County Commissioners on Tuesday, July 7; hosted an 1980s Beach Party on Saturday, July 11; will host a 1980s roller skating party at Halpatiokee Regional Park on Saturday, July 26 from 6-9 p.m.; will flash-sale several sets of 85 "Back to the Future" priced ($6.50) weekday tickets to Sailfish Splash Waterpark during July; and on August 1 with a "Family Splashin' Saturday" of early evening Waterpark hours capped with a showing of the movie, "Finding Nemo."

"Parks and recreation have far reaching, positive effects on our community," explained Kevin Abbate, Director, Martin County Department of Parks & Recreation. Abbate continued, "In addition to contributing to health and wellness, parks and rec programs help build character and civic mindedness in our children, lead the way in conservation, and support property values."

Through the end of July, Sailfish Splash Waterpark will make surprise announcements on www.Facebook.com/SailfishSplash of the online, flash-sales of several sets of "Back to the Future" $6.50 admission tickets. Customers who get in on the flash-sales, may redeem each $6.50 "Back to the Future" ticket for a splashtastic day of fun at Sailfish Splash Waterpark, Monday through Friday, through the end of July 2015.

For the "Family Splashin' Saturday" on August 1, 2015, Sailfish Splash Waterpark will re-open immediately after Public Hours of Operation, at approximately 6:15 PM. For only $7.50 per person, mom, dad and the kids can enjoy the lazy river, splash playground, and slides until sunset. Dinner and snacks will be available for purchase from park concessions. As twilight advances, lifeguards will announce the end of water play, and ushers from the Florida Sheriff's Explorer Association will guide everyone to a showing, starting no later than 8:20 PM, of "Finding Nemo," on a billboard sized, high-definition LED screen. Moviegoers can watch while floating in tubes in the 25 yard pool.
